19 Dec Meet the Dream Team: Lisa
As a full service event company, our love for food and celebration inspires us to create dreamy dishes and unforgettable gatherings. Our passion for catering and entertainment, no matter what the event may be, inspires us daily to create personal relationships with our past, present, and future clients.
None of this is possible without our team. Each month on the blog, we’re highlighting a member of the Dream Team and hope that you will have a greater sense of the love we have for what we do daily. The next team member we’re featuring in the series is Lisa Baffo, Director of Events. Learn more about her below!
How long have you been on the Dream Team?
3 months
How long have you been in the industry?
I’ve been in the hospitality industry for 18 years.
What made you want to get into the industry?
I had a “sweet sixteen” and got to work with an event planner. She had a slideshow and photo albums of all of the events she had done and I was so impressed and so excited that I turned to my mom and said, “I want to do this when I grow up.” I worked and studied hard, and as life has it, found my way to my dream career.
Where are you from? If not Nashville, how did you decide to move here?
I am from Southern California, born and raised! I decided to move to Nashville because I needed a change from LA. I felt like I had worked my way around the city and learned so much but wanted something a little different. I also LOVE country music and that is just not a thing in LA. I had wanted to move to Nashville for a while, and actually applied to Dream right before the pandemic hit but had to retract my application. I told the team that it was my goal to move to Nashville and if it was meant to be it would be! Almost three years later and here I am!
How do you stay on top of everything? Any organizational tips or tricks?
I have a planner book that lays out my month ahead and I leave it on my desk so I am constantly seeing it. I can usually keep things really organized in my head, but when I have more than 3 events in a week, I make to-do lists. I organize them by event and what I still need to do. Love when I check those boxes off!!!
What is one of your most commonly asked questions?
Are you off on Saturday?
What are some of the challenges you face on a day-to-day basis and how do you overcome them?
Some challenges are usually on-site rather than in the planning process. Putting out fires and thinking quickly on the spot are things that can happen often. Experience and failing a few times does actually teach you and helps you learn for next time. Failing is never fun, but I promise you’ll never make that mistake again. It’s hard to not take things to heart when this happens but just know it does make you better!
What’s a typical day at Dream like for you?
Every day is different. Beginning of the week is usually meetings and connecting with the team. Later in the week I am working on events for the weeks ahead and running through events for the upcoming weekend.
What’s your favorite part about your job?
One of my favorite things is that it is different every day. It’s not just a desk job. I get to explore Nashville and all of its venues and meet new people daily. Especially being new to the city, I am getting to see all of its charm quickly! I love working weddings, always one of my favorites. They can be stressful because it is such a big day for the families, but the energy is always unmatched to any other event
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love spending time with my dog, Molly! I love making candles. I have my own candle line which I started during the pandemic. I also LOVE taking drives. Tennessee is just so beautiful, so whenever I can take a backroad somewhere I do.
