Born and raised in California, Hannah Weaver always loved event planning. She comes from a creative family and knew early on that joining the hospitality industry was the right move. Hannah has been with us as an Event Specialist for just over a year, and we’re thrilled to have her on the Dream Team!
Outside of work, she loves hanging out with her sweet dog Carroll, camping, and binge-watching Harry Potter. Don’t we all?
Keep reading to learn more about Hannah and her favorite parts about working in the hospitality industry!
Where are you from? If not Nashville, how did you decide to move here?
I am from Southern California! Born and raised in Corona, California. I got a full ride scholarship to Tennessee Tech University for softball. After graduating, I moved back home for 2 years. I decided to move back out here to Nashville in 2018 and have been here ever since!
How long have you been in the event industry?
I have been in the event industry for over 4 years! I have worked at several companies, including event management at The Opryland Hotel.
What got you into event planning?
I come from a very creative, resourceful family, so I get a lot of joy from transforming an idea into something wonderful and memorable. I have been an event planner for family, friends, and personal parties for a long time, as well as my best friend’s wedding, so diving into the industry was the right decision for me! I have always enjoyed putting together something fun for the people around me to have a good time! It’s always so exciting seeing either my vision or my client’s vision come to life!
Where do you draw inspiration from?
I am a big Pinterest fan and I love finding new tips and tricks from creative people around the world. It is inspiring to see how others’ minds work to create something so beautiful. My favorite inspiration when picking out decor for an event is working with the other Event Specialists. Our thought process and ideas are sometimes different, and it helps me grow as an event planner!
What are some of your favorite current trends in the industry?
One of my favorite trends recently is people having smaller, more intimate weddings! I think we are moving away from the big elaborate celebrations, and more into small intentional ceremonies that hold so much meaning and thoughtfulness.
How do you stay on top of everything? Any organizational tips or tricks?
I stay on top of everything by using my calendar, as well as an ongoing list that I remove and add to every day. This helps me see what needs to get done today and what can wait for tomorrow!
What is one of your favorite memories from one of your events?
One of my favorite memories is from BMI last year. It was a very big event, all hands on deck, and a lot of moving parts. Everyone worked so well with each other and it was just a great experience making that event a success.
What are some of the challenges you face when planning an event and how do you overcome them?
I think a challenge we face when planning an event is creating what the client is expecting. This is the most fun, though! Making sure to ask all the right questions and bringing their ideas to life!
If you could give one piece of advice to couples planning a wedding what would it be?
One piece of advice I would give to a couple when planning their wedding is to focus on what you want as a couple. There are a lot of family and friends involved in your big day, and it is easy to get wrapped up in making sure everyone else is happy and to put your wants and needs to the side. This is YOUR day!
What’s your favorite part about your job and why?
My favorite part about my job is the variety in my days. I can be working at a wedding one day, then the next day working at a happy hour, and the next day at a baby shower. We do all kinds of events, and it is really refreshing to meet so many great people and companies!
Do you have a favorite go-to place in Nashville and why?
My go-to place in Nashville is Amerigos. It’s a great date night with delicious pasta and drinks!
